Jesus came into our broken world to bless it; to be Immanuel - God with us.
But, as the gospel writer John said, Jesus came into the world and was not recognized for who he really was.
But somehow the Magi knew who Jesus was. They traveled far to worship him, to bring him gifts, to protect him from Herod. The Magi show us who Jesus was, is and always will be: King, Prophet, Priest, Savior.
Simultaneously, Herod shows us the depth of human brokenness. He demonstrates the damage fear, pride and self-protection cause.
Am I more like the Magi as I relate to Jesus? Or am I more like Herod?
Join us this Advent season as we explore the meaning of the birth of Jesus through the lens of the three gifts the Magi brought the newborn baby Jesus. Each gift will be a springboard to learn more about who Jesus was from his birth.
Gold - Jesus is King
Frankincense - Jesus is High Priest
Myrrh - Jesus is the Prophet
Herod - The anti-gift
