Many volunteers are needed to help our congregation feel welcome and our services go smoothly. You will work with up-to-date equipment and high-energy people. Volunteers are needed on the following teams:

Production (computer, sound, lighting), Greeters, Ushers, Parking, Children's Ministry, Coffee House, Student Ministry, Wednesday Night Meals, Welcome/Information Centers

Big House

Connect and Care

This ministry is best described as "love in action", providing spiritual, emotional, and practical support to seniors with specific needs. This may involve home and nursing home visits, running errands, providing transportation, encouraging cards and phone calls, etc. Adults of all ages are invited to serve on this team. CHAOS (junior high)

Coffee House

The Coffee House provides a variety of coffees and other drinks to promote community and sustenance to members and visitors to OHC. This ministry makes and serves coffee, hot chocolate, and cappuccino on Sunday mornings and during special events.

Greeters for Services

Greeters stand at the doors of the church on Sunday morning to shake hands and welcome people to worship at OHC. We provide the important first impression for newcomers to our church and answer questions or direct them to the information desk for more help. If you are interested in being a greeter at one of our services, we usually ask that you greet at least once a month and that you arrive at your door at least 15 minutes before the service begins.

Adventure Zone

It takes over 200 volunteers each week to make things happen in Adventure Zone. Whether you have a passion to connect with children, run a camera, help first-time guests feel "at home", we have an opportunity for you.  If you would like to volunteer in Adventure Zone, you may call the Orchard Hill Church Office at 266-9796 and ask to speak to any of the Children’s Ministry team members or email Sheila McClanahan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Great Adventure - K-5th grade

Library

Volunteers to the library help organize and promote use of the church's library as well as add new materials as the needs and funds allow. The purpose for the church library is to provide church attenders a place where there is a great assortment of Christian literature, whether fiction or non-fiction and to provide a resource where they can look for God-honoring reading materials. We accept donations of books and are open when the church is.

Lights Ministry

This ministry supports the worship team by setting up lighting, programming and running the light board in the Community Center for Sunday morning worship and special events. We also create stage design throughout the year and for special events to optimize an effective worship environment to allow people to connect with God.

Mom's Morning Out

Childcare helpers for Mom's Morning Out are needed on Friday mornings from 8:45 - 10:15 a.m. Join the team that nurtures young children and encourages families! Picnic in the Park

Every first and third Sunday from June-October, we partner with Harvest Vineyard to to provide a meal, hospitality, and a worship service at Lincoln Park in Waterloo. If you could do some occasional calling to ask OHC women to bring food to, or work at functions, please call Ellen Pohl at 266-0212.

Soul Food
Misty Block & Sara Janssen

Soul Food is a ministry which shows love to and through the church with food. This is accomplished by volunteers providing meals to families and individuals during a time of need. The meals may be either prepared at home or pre-purchased.

Stage Design & Décor

We are looking for someone with a creative eye and a flare for design! Volunteers are needed for stage design and décor. No previous experience necessary - includes use of a ladder. Contact Pat Oehler (266-9796) or Patty Skiles (266-5371).

Women Alive!

Our Women Alive! group is in need of someone to call to recruit women to help at, or donate food for, different events at OHC. If you can help, please call Ellen Pohl (266-0212).
