[MISSION] The mission of the Orchard Hill Student Ministires is to help students in the Cedar Valley become more fully devoted followers of Christ no matter where they are at on their faith journey. 

[STRATEGY] Our strategy is to help students engage in relationships in the same way Jesus did while here on earth.  These are: Large and Mega Group experiences - Small group experiences - One-on-One experiences. We organize weekly LARGE group ministry events called CHAOS (junior high), BIGhouse (high school), and BASIC (college). Through these events, SMALL GROUP opportunities are programmed as part of CHAOS, offered following BIGhouse, and through our BASICplus small group ministry of BASIC. 

[WHY] We deeply believe that as student ministry leaders we can be more EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT at helping students become more fully devoted followers of Christ if we lay down demoninational flags and raise the banner of Jesus Christ to unite with other local churches and youth directors! We believe that by uniting our passions, strengths, and spiritual gifts that we will be able to reach a much greater number of students in the Cedar Valley for Jesus than by ourselves.

We encourage junior high students to get involved and serve on Sunday Mornings!  Serving options include being a small group leader for elementary students during Sunday School, singing, sound technician, helping with the Coffee House, joining the parking lot crew, assisting with the production booth, or attending the L1FE Sunday School Class.

The Sunday School Class, open to all 7-12 graders, happens Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 in the Big House.  We meet during the school year and take a break during the summer.

Also, we highly encourage you to value a time to worship with your family.  If your family is at Orchard Hill Church for one hour on Sunday Mornings, we highly recommend that you to consider attending a worship service together.

L1FE Bible Basics League

Each week during class, we have a lesson straight from the Bible.
Once a month, we have a day of trivia where the questions come from the previous lessons.  Every student is a part of a team and we keep running stats/standings throughout the season. 

This is an exciting way to reveiw and recall the lessons from the previous month.

Hello hello! I was born and raised in Cedar Falls and OHC Vacation Bible School in 1991 changed my life.  I was headed into 2nd grade and it was at that time when my family joined Orchard Hill. We’ve been here ever since.  Growing up with the church, I was that kid who was pegged as “a future youth director”, I think pretty much because my youth directors at the time saw a crazy kid who was outgoing and a little bit out there but grounded in faith.  I vividly remember making my relationship with Jesus my own at church camp on Pine Lake in Eldora; immediately after praying with my camp counselor the skies opened up and there was a downpour of rain…awesome!  I went to college at Kansas (Jayhawks woo!) and finished up back home at U.N.I.  I married my beautiful wife, Liz, less than five months after we met and we have four beautiful children, 2 girls and 2 boys.  My dream of being a youth director came to fruition in July 2008 when I was hired as the Jr. High Guy.  I have a passion for this age group and love interrupting their lives in the name of Jesus.  I also cannot wait for the day when “chubby bunny” is welcomed back into the ring as a positive youth ministry tool.
